Father's Day

Father's Day is coming up! If you're like me, you want to make it a special day to tell the men in your life how grateful you are for all they do for you! I love to do something fun and original every year. After all, a man only needs so many ties. :)

This year I plan to have the kids help fully wash and detail the car with me on Saturday. We always do a breakfast in bed. This year our church is very early, so I plan on making a breakfast casserole the night before so I can just stick it in the oven bright and early. I have a small budget if I can think of a great gift, but I also love to have the kids make something handmade. This year I'm thinking of putting some of their artwork on a shirt with freezer paper.

So let's discuss!

What ideas do you have for your husband from you and your children? Gifts? Activities? Traditions?

What do you do for your father, grandfather, or other important father figures in your life?

(if you are worried about your husband tracking this down, feel free to comment anonymously.)

We must have great minds Erin because we think alike! :)

I have been considering that freezer paper kids art shirt as well. But we will buy some kind of Wii game Jared can play with our sons too, since that is what he has been window shopping at the store for for a while now. For grandfathers... I am going to do an etched mug with the kids' hand prints for my dad and a silly bookmark with pictures of the kids tearing up a book {I don't feel like I can do it justice without pictures - but it is better than it sounds} and an antique book for my father-in-law. I will put them on my blog next week. :)

Tradition wise, we usually get doughnuts because that is his favorite food (and greatest food weakness), drink Dad's root beer and have a "manly" meal of brats and fries {or something else totally unfeminine and unhealthy :)} for dinner. I would love to add to this though so I am excited to hear what everyone else shares.

These are great ideas.... I need some ideas that don't cost because my anniversary is in the same month as Father's day and we aren't made of money. :)

Can I be dumb Erin and ask what exactly a freezer paper art shirt is??

I like the meal idea Delia! I like how you said "manly" and "unfeminine" it made me smile.
