Christmas at the Movies

There's something in the wind today
That's good for everyone

Yes, faith is in our hearts today

We're shining like the sun

And everyone can feel it, the feeling's running deep
After all, there's only one more sleep til Christmas

Muppet Christmas Carol is one of my all-time favorite Christmas movies. I was in elementary school when it first came out, and I remember sitting in the school gym with the entire student body and watching it projected on the stage curtains. To me, it isn't Christmas without this movie.

Movies are often a regular part of our lives, but I think that Christmas movies hold a special place in the traditions of the season, and many films have even become iconical.

We describe less-than-full Christmas trees as a Charlie Brown tree.

Santa must exist because millions of children send him letters through the post office.

We know that Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.

And every once in a while, a new classic emerges...

you can hear the bells of Christmas in The Polar Express or

make paper snowflakes with Elf.

A movie can capture those specials feelings of the season and allows us to relive them as often as we want. It just isn't Christmas without them.

What are your favorite Christmas movies?

WHITE CHRISTMAS!
This is without a doubt, my all time favorite Christmas movie. What would Christmas be without hearing at LEAST once Bing Crosby sing White Christmas?

A Christmas Story - I think I've watched it 3 times this month already :) We also really like Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch (the cartoon) and the claymation Santa Claus is coming to town, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, and Frosty - I love that my kids are loving watching them too!

I too love the Muppet Christmas Carol. As a child I think my favorite was probably Mickey's Christmas Carol which I am yet to find on DVD....

My favorite Christams movie as an adult is It's a Wonderful Life. I LOVE that movie - I always feel uplifted and feel the Christmas spirit by watching it.

I agree... a Christmas story is a favorite. We have been enjoying the wonders of youtube and playing all the old, old holiday Disney Christmas clips mostly with chip and dale in them. Our kids love them and my husband and I love remembering watching them when we were young.

My parents always watched one Magic Christmas. Will still try to watch it every year. It is one of those less well known ones. It is very good though- you should watch it.

Every year my husband and I write down a list of Christmas movies we want to watch and every year it is pretty much the same with a few new ones to add to it. I think my favorite Christmas movies "It's a Wonderful Life", "One Magic Christmas", and "The Christmas Shoes". Actually, now that I'm typing these there are so many that we love!

I used Mr. Krueger's Christmas in my Sunday School class (Gospel Doctrine) today and was surprised by just how many people had never seen it before - just had to add it as one of my other favorites. I adore Jimmy Stewart!

One Magic Christmas is a good one! However, my FAVORITE from when I was little is "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street". Oscar scares Big Bird about Santa not being able to make it down the chimney, so Big Bird decides to figure out how it is done, with some help from Snuffy. It's got Bert, Ernie and Mr. Hooper, and Cookie Monster (when he still ate COOKIES) trying to write a letter to Santa. I still like it and my kids fell in love with it this year.
